I recently showed you the first half of my assignment from Click Magazine for  the May, 2013 issue,  the Lifecycle of the Ladybug. Here's the second spread, Lifecycle of a Dragonfly. I've collected all my research into a Pinterest board on Dragonflies if you're interested. The challenge was the same, to show the various stages of eggs, larva, and dragonflys (no pupa) in the process of molting or transforming WHILE giving an overview of their habitat. In other words, I had to show the nearly microscopic within a wide shot of their environment. No small task.

Here you can see all the various stages of egg laying and hatching, various sized larva, etc. The spread had a sidebar to the left explaining the whole process and various callouts within the illustration (which is why there are many pale blank areas.) Again, I felt it might make a nice promotional postcard so . . . .

I revised my Dragonfly image and added more wildlife that you might find in a NH lake. The fish were especially fun and satisfying, as were the water lilies and rippling water. I also have a Pinterest board on Blue Herons and Mallard Ducks.
